Record Amount Raised at 3rd Annual Riverside Walk
Oakville, ON –The 3 rd Annual Riverside Walk “for a safer tomorrow” set a new record this past Sunday, September 24 th, by raising over $6400 for Halton Women's Place. The walk is an annual event hosted by Ramsden Training and Halton Women’s Place. Over 50 walkers enjoyed the wonderful sunshine and cool breezes while walking the 2km or 5km trails at Lions Valley Park along Sixteen Mile Creek, Oakville. Many of the event sponsors were on hand to participate they included; Petrie’s Quality Top Soil, Laker Energy Products and Kyle & Van Der Steen Barristers and Solicitors. Gold sponsor The Niblick Pub also provided the walkers with appetizers after the event.
On Monday, October 2, 2006 at 2:00pm Ramsden Training will be presenting a cheque to Halton Women's Place at the Niblick Pub, 1011 Upper Middle Road E. The funds will help Halton Women's Place sustain their current programs and allow the only emergency shelter in Halton Region to continue to provide their services.
Halton Women’s Place provides shelter services for women and their dependent children in the Halton Region. Last year over 700 women and 400 children accessed their services as residential and/or community clients. Staff responded to 2000 crisis calls.
